Job #1 - Web Programmer

 

We are looking for a web programmer who can single-handedly manage the web needs on the IPhone, Facebook and other Web Platforms. This person will work on game integration, porting games to/from Facebook, Open Social and IPhone, the “Web Canvas” for the game, and stand alone Websites.


General Responsibilities:

  •          Manage coding and deployment and maintenance of Monkey Gods’ websites, in game Web-canvas, and related areas
  •          Work with world class game talent on art, design and  implementation
  •          Be a self starter, problem solver, and relentless worker with a drive to succeed
  •          Be self-motivated and driven to create, improve, and release the best possible products in a rapid timeframe.
 
Requirements & Education
  •     Strong Knowledge and experience with:

o   HTML and Facebook Markup Language (FBML)

o   CSS – including deep knowledge of CSS layout and positioning and cross-browser compatibility

o   Extensive Javascript knowledge, including Facebook Javascript (FBJS)

o   Ruby/Rails or Ruby/Merb experience

o   Experience and experience in talking to external APIs (iPhone, Facebook Connect, Open Social)

o   Knowledge of Caching, site deployment, basic network structure

o   Familiarity with backend database models (mySQL)

o   Good design sense

o   Skills at cutting art and re-assembling optimized web pages

  •        Familiarity and experience with ActionScript 3.0 a major plus but not required
  •         Must provide examples of previous work, including URLs and a Portfolio if applicable
  •        Must love games! (why would you want to work for us if you didn’t?)
  •        Bachelor’s degree (or better) in computer science a plus but not required.

Job #2 - Casual Games Programmer

We are looking for a jack of all trades game and web programmer who can single handedly manage a large variety of small sized game projects.  This person would work on a series of cool games for a number of platforms as part of a small team.  This might include being the sole coder.  You must have experience coding multiple game projects, and ideally you have been the sole contributor on a number of small or medium sized games.  You should be familiar with graphics, sound, gameplay programming, resource management etc.  You should have worked on a number of platforms, including both some embedded platforms (handhelds, mobile etc.) and some network based platforms (the web etc.) and in a number of different programming environments and languages.  We would like someone who is very fast, smart, flexible, and able to pick up new systems, languages, and machines very rapidly.  You should love playing and making games!  Why make them if you don’t love them?

We are looking for someone full time, starting as a contractor, but if things go well we see this leading to either full time employment or long term contracting.

•    Work with artists and integrate their output into the product
•    Design and implement all aspects of small embedded and network based games
•    Be self-motivated and driven to create, improve, and release the best possible products in a rapid timeframe.

Requirements & Education
•    Strong Knowledge and experience of either/both the web world (HTML, CSS, XML and Javascript, Flash) or the some kind of serious embedded gaming system (mobile, handheld etc.).  Experience with game play programming on a larger (console, PC etc.) game project would be fine as well.
•    Familiarity with at least one back end scripting language (Python, Ruby, PHP) a major plus
•    Familiarity and experience with ActionScript 3.0 a major plus
•    Familiarity with Max OS X, iPhone, or windows programming a major plus
•    Familiarity with C++ and/or Objective C a major plus
•    Must provide examples of previous work
•    Must love games!
•    Bachelor’s degree (or better) in computer science or game creation a plus but not required.
